Amanda Nicolson, Ph.D., BCBA-D is the CEO and Executive director for Swan Consulting Inc. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma City University, she earned her Master’s of Psychology degree from the University of Nevada, Reno and her Ph.D. from Florida State University. Dr. Nicolson became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2000. Since then she has held a number of clinical positions for Autism service companies, including the director of in-home services for ABC School in Sacramento. After that, she became the lead Behavior Analyst for Washoe County School District in Reno, NV. In 2006 Dr. Nicolson accepted a faculty position at Fresno State University, CA where she worked for 8 years as an associate professor in the Psychology department. She also served as the coordinator for the Master’s program in ABA, and founded the Autism Center at Fresno State. In 2013, she left academia to pursue clinical work full time.
Currently, she is on the board of directors for the California Association for Behavior Analysis for a two year term. Dr. Nicolson has published many articles in peer reviewed journals and chapters in an academic book. Most recent book being, the Behavioral Principles in Communicative Disorders: Applications to Assessment and Treatment. Dr. Nicolson was also a reviewer for National Autism Center’s National Standards Project. She has traveled to the country of Bosnia, to work on autism projects abroad. In 2017, she opened Swan Consulting Inc to continue providing comprehensive, contemporary ABA services for children and families affected by ASD in a unique evidence based model.
